Do I own the code and domain after?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The GitHub repo is yours. Your domain is registered in your name. The Vercel deployment account is yours (we can stay as a collaborator or transfer it outright — your call). No lock-in. If you ever want to hire someone else to maintain it, you can hand them the GitHub URL and they're good to go. We don't use proprietary builders or hidden frameworks — it's standard Next.js + TypeScript + Tailwind, which most modern web developers know.

What hosting do you use?

Vercel for almost everything. The free tier (Hobby plan) covers most small-business sites — bandwidth, build minutes, and serverless function invocations all sit well below the limits. Your monthly hosting cost ends up being $0 for most of the year. If your site genuinely grows past free-tier limits (you're getting 50k+ visitors a month) we'll help you move to the $20/mo Pro plan. For e-commerce stores doing real volume we sometimes recommend Vercel Pro from day one, but it's still cheaper than what most agencies charge.

How long does it take?

Starter sites: under a week from kickoff to live. Standard builds: 2–3 weeks. E-commerce / custom: 4–8 weeks depending on scope. We commit to a specific launch date in the quote. If we're going to slip, you hear about it days in advance, not the day before — and we lock the date conservatively so we usually hit it.

Do you do branding?

Light branding is included in Standard Build — palette, typography, a clean wordmark logo if you don't have one. Full branding work (real logo, illustrations, brand guidelines, print collateral) is outside our scope — we'll either refer you to a Portland branding studio we trust or partner with one. We're a web shop, not a branding agency. We won't pretend we're the right pick for a full identity refresh.

Can you migrate my old WordPress site?

Accepted Answer

Yes — WordPress migrations are one of our most common refresh projects. We extract your pages, blog posts, images, and metadata, then rebuild on Next.js. Old URLs get redirected to the new equivalent so your existing Google rankings carry over. Sites with 200+ pages or unusual custom-post-type setups need a custom quote, but the typical 10–30 page WordPress site is included in a standard refresh.

Will it work on mobile?

Mobile is the default. We build mobile-first — design and test on phone-sized screens before touching desktop. Tap targets, font sizing, image loading, navigation patterns are all chosen for one-thumb operation on a phone in landscape or portrait. We test on real iOS and Android devices, not just the browser dev tools. If your business gets more leads from desktop visitors (rare), tell us — we'll tune for both.

Do you do SEO?

On-page SEO is included in Standard Build and above. That means: proper meta tags and titles per page, OpenGraph + Twitter cards for social sharing, semantic HTML, structured data (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ schema where it fits), XML sitemap, robots.txt, fast Core Web Vitals scores, and Google Search Console setup. We don't do ongoing SEO marketing — link building, content strategy, paid ads — that's a separate discipline and we'll refer you to a Portland SEO specialist if you need it.

What about Google ranking?

We give you the foundation: a technically sound site that Google can crawl, schema markup so your business shows up in the right SERP features, a Google Business Profile linked properly, and a sitemap submitted to Search Console. Ranking #1 for competitive terms takes ongoing content and link building — outside our scope. But the basics get you on the map for branded searches and local intent searches ("pressure washing near me") quickly. We'll show you the Lighthouse + PageSpeed scores at launch.

Can I edit it myself later?

Depends what we built. Starter and Standard Build sites have copy directly in the React components — editable by anyone comfortable with a text editor and GitHub. We walk you through it at hand-off. For sites where you want to edit copy frequently, we can integrate a headless CMS (Contentful, Sanity, or a simple markdown-in-GitHub flow) for an additional fee — flag it upfront and we'll include it. Most small-biz sites don't actually need a CMS; they change a few times a year and an edit-via-GitHub flow is fine.

What if I need changes a year from now?

Accepted Answer

Ping us — we charge a flat hourly for small changes (usually $100–$150/hr depending on the work) with a 1-hour minimum. Larger redesigns get a fresh quote. Because you own the code, you can also hire any other Next.js developer to make changes; we won't be offended. If you want predictable monthly support, the upcoming Maintenance plan (in the pricing tiers) covers that — quarterly content + security updates, SEO refresh, plus a small change budget per month.

Do you do logos?

Light wordmark logos are included in Standard Build for businesses that don't have one yet — a clean typographic mark in your brand colors, suitable for a website header and basic print use. Full logo design (icon mark, multiple lockups, brand guidelines, vector formats) is a branding studio's job, not ours. If you already have a logo, send it (SVG preferred) and we'll use it.

Do you do photography?

Accepted Answer

No. We use your photos if you have them, or stock photos (we have a paid Unsplash+ subscription, so the imagery doesn't look like every other small-biz site) for a starter build. If you need actual photography of your work, your space, or your team, we'll refer you to a Portland photographer who shoots small-business commercial. We can coordinate the shoot if you want — adds a couple weeks to the timeline.

Question 13

Can you set up Google Business Profile?

Accepted Answer

Yes — included in Standard Build. We claim or verify your existing listing, set the right categories, add service area, hours, photos, and a couple posts. We also wire schema markup on your site so Google connects the dots between your Business Profile and your website. That combination matters more than most SEO advice — it's what gets you in the local map pack for nearby searches. If you already have a verified profile we just optimize it.
